Which is better, TPE or silicone doll? Would you buy TPE physical dolls?
Dolls are mostly made of two types of raw materials. They used to be silicone dolls, but after being made with thermoplastic elastomer TPE, they gradually became popular. Many doll manufacturers now use TPE raw materials, and many people ask in the community: which is better between TPE and silicone dolls? The editor has previously introduced the advantages and disadvantages of silicone and TPE materials. I'm not sure if you have understood them. From the perspective of health and user experience, TPE should have advantages, but would you buy TPE dolls?Overview of TPE and silicone characteristics:
TPE has no odor and a good feel! Good resilience, but TPE physical cross-linking may result in some permanent deformation. High molecular weight TPE materials have better resilience, while thermoplastic elastomers are environmentally friendly, non-toxic, and safe. They have a wide range of hardness, excellent coloring properties, soft touch, weather resistance, fatigue resistance, and temperature resistance. They have superior processing performance and do not require vulcanization. Their processing efficiency is higher than that of rubber, and they can be recycled to reduce costs. They can be used for secondary injection molding, bonded with matrix materials such as PP, PE, PC, PS, ABS, or formed separately. For detailed information, please refer to the specific properties of thermoplastic elastomers.
The surface smoothness of silicone has a wider range of material hardness, and generally silicone materials ranging from 20 to 80A have excellent surface smoothness. Silicone rubber has excellent properties such as heat resistance, cold resistance, dielectric properties, ozone resistance, and atmospheric aging resistance. Its outstanding performance is that it can be used at a wide temperature range, and can be used for a long time from -60 ℃ (or lower temperature) to+250 ℃ (or higher temperature)
Comparison between TPE and silicone dolls
After testing by some manufacturers, both types of dolls have similarities, differences in use, and differences.
Similarities: 1. Soft texture, but TPE's softness is higher than silicone!
2. The surface dryness also gives TPE a slight advantage.
Difference: Oil is an essential component of TPE, and the softer the material, the higher the oil content. It can improve the surface dryness of TPE.
In terms of odor between the two dolls, by adding various fragrances, the odor can be controlled to a level that people's sense of smell can accept or even like. Of course, silicone solid dolls may inevitably have sticky surfaces and unpleasant odors during long-term use.
