Introduction and application of TPE and silicone materials
Silica gel is safe and non-toxic. It is insoluble in water and any solvent. It is non-toxic and tasteless, and has good chemical stability. It does not react with any substance except strong base and some acids. TPE has high adsorption performance, good stability and chemical stability. Both materials are widely used in adult products, such as physical dolls and sex toys.
TPE is a thermoplastic elastomer, which is environmentally friendly, non-toxic, easy to stain, smooth and soft to touch, with a hardness range of 0A-120A. It is easy to process and shape, does not need vulcanization, and can be recycled to reduce costs. In addition, it can be coated with PP, PE, PC, PS, ABS and other plastic materials (over plastic), and can also be formed separately.
What is the difference between TPE and silicone doll?
Elastic difference
TPE is the general name of various elastomer materials. These elastomer materials have rubber elasticity at room temperature and melt fluidity at high temperature. Silica gel is a special rubber, which has good mechanical strength, wear resistance and high temperature resistance after crosslinking. It is a thermosetting rubber. It will not melt after vulcanization. If the temperature is too high, it will burn. The products of complete combustion are water and silicon. Therefore, the dolls made of them have different elasticity.
Differences in chemical structure
Silica gel is the main chain of oxygen bond elastomer, and the side chain is usually methyl, namely CH3. TPE is a thermoplastic elastomer containing styrene, olefin and polyurethane. The main difference between the two molecular structures is SI02 structure and CC structure. As you can see, silicone dolls are more durable than TPE physical dolls.
Processing performance difference
Silicone needs vulcanization and thermoforming, and TPE can be processed without vulcanization. It is difficult to form in the processing of silica gel, while the production and processing of TPE is relatively simple.
Difference in high temperature resistance
In terms of high temperature resistance, silica gel has advantages over TPE. The heat resistance of silica gel is usually between 200 and 300 ℃, while the temperature resistance of TPE is generally between 130 and 150 ℃.
Cost variance
The price of silica gel is generally more than 30000 yuan/ton, while the average price of TPE is between 10000-30000 yuan/ton. TPE price is more advantageous, except for special TPE materials, such as halogen-free flame retardant, food grade, etc. So you can buy physical dolls at the most favorable price.
Environmental differences
Silica gel waste cannot be recycled, while TPE waste, nozzle materials, trim pieces, etc. can be completely recycled. Obviously, TPE physical dolls are more environmentally friendly.
Which is more suitable for producing physical dolls, TPE or silicone?
Both have their own advantages, but compared with silica gel, TPE has lower costs in terms of process capability, recovery and cost. With more and more types and applications of TPE, TPE is the preferred material to replace silica gel! Therefore, TPE is more suitable for producing physical dolls than silicone.
