Step by step guide to repairing TPE physical dolls

The physical doll is a beautiful creation. They come from sculptors who ensure that they can withstand even if the owner swings them carelessly. However, as time goes by, the physical doll will be damaged. Although some of the damage is irreparable, you can repair some of the damage if you know enough about the repair methods.

One kind of damage that physical dolls may suffer is some dents caused by their weight and impact. These dents may be caused by pressing heavy objects on the doll's surface or pulling it too hard. In addition, if it is not stored correctly, it will cause the same damage to the doll. However, there is no need to worry about such damage, because it only takes a few steps to repair the doll.

 

Hot towel application

 

This simple repair process only requires a warm towel to cover the visible dent on the doll in a short time. Once the damaged part gets hot, wear gloves and pat the damaged area with your hands, and perform these steps alternately until it is flat and no longer visible.

 

Hair dryer heating

 

It seems that the hair dryer is not only useful for our hair. Although most of us think that this tool is only used to blow dry and wet hair, it is also an excellent way to repair your TPE doll.

 

This method requires a clean wet towel. To avoid contaminating the doll, use a white cloth as much as possible, cover the dent with a wet towel, and heat it with a hair dryer. After continuous heating, it will be noticed that the dent will begin to disappear gradually.

 

Repair the scratch of the doll

 

In addition to indentation, another common damage that physical dolls may suffer is scratches and tears, and these methods can be used to repair such damage.

 

Use TPE glue

 

After finding the tear, use a pointed tool to apply a small amount of TPE glue. Then pull the torn sides together and hold for a few minutes until they are completely closed. Before gluing, ensure that the damaged area is completely clean, and use 70% isopropyl alcohol cleaning solvent for this cleaning.

 

Use a spatula to evenly apply TPE glue on the inside of the tear, so as to avoid too much TPE glue on the spatula, because it will cause too much glue to spread to the doll's skin. After sealing the tear, wipe off the excess glue with a clean cloth. Avoid removing glue with your fingers, as this will cause unnecessary marks on the doll. Finally, the doll can be left alone for 24 hours.

 

Use a hot-air gun to smooth the scratches on the doll's surface

 

The first thing is to clean the damaged surface of the doll with Vaseline or baby oil. In addition to cleaning, they can also make the heat distribution more uniform. After applying baby oil or Vaseline, start pointing the hot-air gun at the damaged area.

 

Pay attention to the distance between the hot air gun and the doll's skin, and do not align the gun too close, otherwise the skin will be severely burned, and the distance should be at least 10cm. The melting point of TPE doll is about 110 ℃. Once it starts to melt, you will see a mirror like glaze, and when to stop depends on the smoke generated from heating.

 

After heating to a suitable temperature, take a clean cloth to gently wipe the irregular scratches on the doll's surface. After repeated heating and cooling several times, the damaged part will become smooth. It is worth noting that the temperature of the heated surface will drop rapidly. Therefore, wear should be eliminated as soon as possible after the hot air gun is stopped.

 

Repair the doll's facial incision
