The artist's physical doll: about the Rashomon of human nature, loneliness is the soul of art
Artists become extremely influential people in their unique way. They are real, and extreme attention to small details of things will fascinate even those who do not understand art. They may not be good at words, but they are good at imaging photos. Some people say that artists only use images to explain a certain phenomenon, and the results are often more convincing than words.
June Korea, a young photographer from South Korea, started his photography career with the physical doll Eva since 2001, and used her photos to show his inner world and ideas.
Emotional connection with Eva
Eva's name was chosen by him for the reason of FedEx. The name is not just as simple as it seems, it means "forever", to express his hope that the doll will live forever. He once said that even if he died in old age, Eva would still live, because its beauty would be hidden in the body of the physical doll. If we don't understand, we will think that June wants Eva to be a real person who can experience a rough life with him.
Eva is portrayed as a lonely, melancholy, alienated from the world, almost always sad person. As a physical doll, it really emits those feelings very strongly. It is a reflection of some groups. A person has experienced complicated relationship problems, so that he has alienated the world and fallen into silent loneliness.
June Korea and Emotional Photography
Judging from the photos he took in the past, he is famous for taking photos of abandoned physical dolls. This is already an emotional beginning. The fact that he only chose to shoot abandoned physical dolls shows a lot. When he didn't have enough lens to tell the story, he used Eva to shoot. Before that, he had been looking for solutions to all these problems.
Like many artists, June attributed his photos to his personal life. All the sadness, loneliness, alienation, melancholy and loneliness produced by the photos are his life experiences. He told the world stories about him in a language that only he could understand, and the stories were sad.
June showed us with his physical dolls that physical dolls are more meaningful than lying there meaningless and lonely and only used to give sexual satisfaction. He continued to try to provide a sense of life and belonging by making Eva appear in these scenes.
Physical Dolls and Artists
In the past, physical dolls have successfully told stories about many aspects of life. When we recognize artists like June who use physical dolls, we also need to see examples of artists who use physical dolls in different ways, so as to distinguish the obvious connection we give physical dolls and sex.
For artists like June, their attachment to physical dolls is more profound than what we have seen. They see physical dolls as if they were themselves, and treat them as if they were themselves, because they indirectly depict their lives. June once told the Huff Post that he did not know how his story would end, but he would continue to take pictures of him and Eva to provide more stories about his life.
When he explained his future with Eva in words, he could feel the sadness in words, and the result might be his death. He hoped that his story could completely convey the sense of alienation, loneliness, estrangement and any other feelings he might have in his future life.
June said that in some of the photos, he was the person behind the photos. They are the experiences of his life. Some of the photos were taken in public places, such as two people sitting on a park bench, while another photo showed him sitting on the floor playing the guitar for Eva. You can imagine such a feeling: there are some people around you, no matter how close they are to you, you can't be closer to them! The best idea is that you can eat, shop or walk with someone, but you can't say a word to them.
This is a sad scene.
Artists have strong feelings, because they can't express them through their mouth, but through pictures, sketches, music, dance and even poetry. Embracing art is the only way we can use these feelings to appreciate art and artists.
Symbolism and Art
For artists, what they display is the pure symbol of their experience. For example, June, Eva is the symbol of his own life. These photos are used to symbolize a mirror, reflecting the essence of June. As he said, he believed that filming Eva was a lifelong thing, which meant that Eva would probably end with his death. He said he was not sure about the future. But one thing is for sure. His story is inspiring.
