Physical doll experts claimed that the self-made companion robot "Samantha" saved his marriage
The inventor of companion robot said that companion robot would help to save human relationships, and claimed that it would also help his own communication. Dr. Selji Santos, a robot expert, and his wife Marissa, who has been married for 16 years, are the brains of the companion robot Samantha. He said the doll can "enjoy" life.
Selgi, who comes from Spain, thinks Samantha has increased his patience. Samantha has three different roles, from shy to flower crazy. He also said that when his wife quarreled, the robot provided an emotional outlet, thereby improving his marriage.
He said: "The communication between people is the desire for each other. If one feels that the other cannot fully trust himself, most people do not like this relationship, which is also the reason for many people."
"Because my wife and I need company at some time of the day, and my wife can't accompany me. The lack of synchronization is destroying many relationships, and I won't put such pressure on my interpersonal relationship. So if there is such a robot, people won't quarrel because of the lack of synchronization. For me, I think this is enough."
Sergi, an electrical engineer, said that his wife had given him the idea of implanting an AI network into a physical doll - the price of the doll they produced was about 17000 yuan, and the price of the top grade AI doll was about 80000 yuan.
Marissa said, "It didn't start from making companion robots, but from making brains. During his research, it was clear that we needed some kind of body or object to contain the brain. Later, I found the existence of physical dolls, which was perfect."
Marissa felt that there was nothing wrong with the intimacy. However, although Marissa does not regard Samantha as a competitor, Selgi now plans to make a companion doll and says that if Marissa communicates with such a doll, he will feel jealous.
She said: "I don't think there is any problem with this. We are not objects, and no one belongs to anyone. If they get what they want, why not?"
"I really think the idea of making a humanoid robot is very interesting. I really want to be one. As for how I view it personally, I don't know. It may be out of curiosity."
Over time, the couple kept improving their companion robot, adding built-in vibration, making their dolls sensitive and responsive to touch, and believing that they felt closer to the real thing.
The couple found that people contact them to talk about robots in many different situations. Some people, for whatever reason, have no company in their lives, are not sociable or have no social life. Some people have social life, but still feel lonely. I'm glad to see that you are helping those lonely people in some way
Even in the existing relationship, the introduction of dolls will have positive results. For both parties, I think it is helpful to introduce a doll as long as there is trust and mutual respect in the relationship. Even if you are compatible with many other things, a doll can be a complementary element or a solution.
