Solid doll material differentiation

There are three common materials of physical dolls: TPE, soft PVC and silicone. What is the difference between them? Let's look at the comparison.

 

1. Specific gravity

 

TPE: 0.85~1.2 has a light specific gravity, about 0.91,

 

Soft PVC: 1.3~1.4

 

Silica gel: 1.05~1.4

 

2. Hardness

 

TPE：A20~D70

 

Soft PVC: A50~A90

 

Silica gel: A50~A70

 

3. Combustion performance

 

TPE: halogen-free, low-smoke and non-toxic

 

Soft PVC: high smoke content polyvinyl chloride (PVC) has flame retardance (flame retardance value is above 40)

 

Silica gel: silicone rubber itself is flammable. Because silica gel does not contain organic halides, it does not smoke or emit toxic gas during combustion

4. Forming characteristics

 

TPE: It can be re-formed, with high dimensional accuracy and easier measurement control; The material proportion is small and adjustable; It can be directly mixed with PP ABS and other plastics to make special plastic alloy; The leftovers, leftovers and waste materials can be completely recycled without changing the performance and reducing waste;

 

Soft PVC: can not be re-formed; Molding shrinkage; Hard 0.6~1.5%, soft PVC1.0~5.0. Molding temperature; The forming temperature of 160~190 ℃ resin is very close to the thermal decomposition temperature, and the temperature range for forming is very narrow. It is a kind of material that is difficult to form.

 

5. Stability

 

TPE: odorless and stable during processing

 

Soft PVC: it is easier to decompose when contacting with steel and copper at 200 ℃, and corrosion escapes when decomposing, and the range of irritating gas and molding temperature is small.

 

Silica gel: silica gel has a larger adsorption capacity for water. The lower the temperature, the stronger the adsorption capacity. It can not only absorb water, but also acetylene and carbon dioxide;

 

6. Equipment requirements

 

TPE: not corrode equipment, reduce equipment maintenance cost

 

Soft PVC: the material of the plasticized parts must be corrosion resistant

 

7. Environmental protection

 

TPE: waste is easy to recycle, renewable, recommended by international environmental protection organizations, free of heavy metals

 

Soft PVC: strict waste treatment procedures, import prohibited by many European countries, heavy metals

 

8. Price

 

TPE: medium high

 

Soft PVC: low

 

Silica gel: higher
